MNC is proud to start off the 2019/2020 training year with the newest addition to the club: our very own van! This 15-passenger Ford Transit van will be a huge boon to our programming as it allows vastly more opportunity, flexibility, and access for our athletes.
The van will arrive on mid-June and be leased through mid-December. As we track usage and costs of the van throughout the summer and fall, the club (and our members) will have the option to continue our agreement and utilize the van throughout the year.
Many of our training sessions that previously involved carpools, caravans, and various drop-off/pick-up schedules can now be condensed and simplified. Expect the Richmond and Waterbury, and Montpelier Park and Ride locations to be common hubs for our athletes as we travel to train around the area, across the state, and beyond. MNC views this van access as a step forward in safety, accessibility, and efficiency across all of our programs. The Junior team will primarily benefit from the van on a weekly basis, but this vehicle offers amazing utility for Masters and BKL sessions and adventures as well.
- Junior athletes in particular will no longer need to incur as much personal vehicular expense, both in terms of fuel and wear-and-tear.
- Team members will have transport under the guidance of a coach driver, rather than carpools or caravans of athlete drivers
- Access to workouts such as point-to-point sessions and downhill shuttling can now be vastly expanded
To that end, there are of course costs associated with the acquisition of this vehicle. The combination of this lease and insurance rates are a new step for the club, and the ideal process for covering these costs will likely evolve as we go forward. Currently, our pricing models necessitate the following changes and goals in order to provide this van for our members:
- Junior Summer programming price increases ($100 increase for 5-day/wk, $20 increase for 2-day/wk)
- Junior Fall programming price increases ($100 increase for 5-day/wk, $200 increase for MNC Academy student-athletes)
- Fundraising push to cover van costs through MNC Annual Fund
- Possible van surcharges for trips such as Climb to the Castle (September)
- Sponsor solicitation for advertising space on van (if you or a company you know/are affiliated with have interest, please contact Adam)
- Direct donations: if you’d like to contribute, click the Donations button below, and put “MNC Van” in the comments under your contribution.
MNC strives to maintain transparency of van costs. If you have specific questions about pricing, costs, or insurance please do not hesitate to contact Coach Adam for more details.
We’re excited to add this new resource to our club and our athletes!
