Greetings from Waterville Maine. After nearly 48 hours of rain the skies cleared for day one of the New England Bill Koch Festival. It was a picture perfect day – sunshine and a bit warm but the snow held up fine for the races and of course klister was the choice of the day. The Quarry Road Recreation Area adjacent to Colby College is true gem for cross-country skiers. MNC BK skiers along with our friends from the Frost Mtn Nordic Club represented the NWVT district with a superb effort and lots of smiles. We were the first club at the venue this morning and the last to leave because everyone was having such a good time.
There were lots of exciting races to watch but one that had the MNC crowd on their feet from start to finish was the 7th-8th Grade Girls Classic Relay. Olivia Cuneo and Marika Massey-Bierman teamed up to take first place and then Kai Richter and Greg Burt put in a tremendous effort finishing in 4th place for 7th-8th grade boys.
