Masters Making Maple Syrup out of Lemons
The recent thaw has not deterred many of our Masters from continuing to train and search for snow.
Last Tuesday Masters made the best of the warm temps with some dry land training at Sleepy Hollow. In addition to the usual fare of running and bounding drills, was a tour of Sleepy Hollow’s Sugar Shack by Eli Enman. Athletes were also rewarded with a taste of some warm maple syrup!
Dave Johnston, Steve Messier and Ellie Bouffard went in search of snow and were rewarded with some great conditions and great results at the Rangley Loppet.
For those not willing to travel so far, conditions at Crafstbury were still quite nice. So let’s hope the next thaw doesn’t hit us too badly.
Finally, Jim Fredericks and Joanna Hanowski have taken the travel to the extreme and can now be found in Switzerland at the World Masters.
2/24 Update – Friday Foxes Canceled
Sorry for the late email, I guess I was holding out hope that we could make something work to get on our skis today. Unfortunately Mother Nature has a different plan. Todays Friday Fox practice is cancelled. We will not be meeting next week either because of Feb break so we will touch base the following week to see if we can get back out on our skis.
Think snow and enjoy school break.

Friday Fox Update 2/10 – Practice at Range
What a great ski last week at UCS!! So glad to see everyone enjoying the amazing snow and incredible views on our trek to Casey’s Hill. Also, we had a great Friday Fox crew join us at the Range Ramble on Sat and get a fun race under their belts. Congrats to all of that crew!
Tomorrow, unfortunately mother nature has thrown us another curve ball, and we are dealing with powder covered ice and very cold temps. We will meet at the range tomorrow at 3:45, as the snow conditions will be much safer there, and we will end early at 4:45. It will be very cold and a bit windy tomorrow (possible projection of -5 wind chill)! Please wear face masks and warm mittens!! The building is supposed to be open tomorrow so weshould have a warming space.
Please do not dbl park or park anywhere near the rd on the upper, trailside parking lot. We did get some frustrated feedback from range personnel at our last range practice. The lower parking lot is to be used instead, you can walk through the tunnel to get to the building.
Thanks again for all the help parents. See you tomorrow.
Lost Ski Pole
Lost a black Rossignol composite pole, yellow basket with “RA” written on it, blue grip with blue “excel” hand strap. Likely somewhere between the Walker Building and the upper parking lot. If you find it, please contact Renata.
