Cross Country Skiing in the Sud Tirol

Interested in cross country skiing in Europe? Recently, we returned from a spectacular trip and wanted to share our experiences and express our thanks to Lumi Experiences. Lumi Experiences specializes in both self-guided and guided experiences to some of the world’s renown cross country destinations.

Lumi was founded by Garrott Kuzzy (Olympian, former US Ski team and former MNC Coach/BOD member). We worked with Garrott to design a self-guided 10-day cross country skiing vacation in Seefeld, Austria, and Seiser Alm, Italy. Aside from flights, Lumi took care of everything, including: lodging, ground transportation, passes and personalized daily trail recommendations. Lumi’s local knowledge and attention to detail made this an incredibly enjoyable and memorable experience. A vacation we will cherish for a long time!

1/18 Masters Mini-clinic & Silver Fox Trot

We have had to reschedule our planned Masters mini-clinic this weekend, but snow is on the way and our coaches are encouraging masters to sign up for the Silver Fox Trot at Rikert https://www.skireg.com/silver-fox-trot. We can all enjoy a nice skate race and coaches will try to get some video clips of each skier during the race.

Masters Mini-Camp 12/28

We are excited to announce our first mini-camp of the season taking place Saturday, December 28th at the Craftsbury Outdoor Center. This is a wonderful opportunity to establish an early-season technique baseline and to identify areas of focus for the coming season. This event is open to all Masters registered in either of our Winter programs. Hope you can make it!

Mini-Camp RSVP

Morning Classic Session 9:30AM (waxed & on snow)

0815 – 09:15 Waxing Help/warmup on own

09:30 Start with one large group for warmup and some very basic pointers then divide into three groups for 30 minute rotating sessions starting at 10:00.

Group 1- Classic Striding – 2 Coaches one with Video/IPAD on Teaching Hill
Group 2 – Double Poling – 1 to 2 Coaches on Upper field or Lemons Haunt
Group 3 – Cornering and Downhills and Transitions – 1-2 Coaches on Dennis’ and Moss

Rotate Groups every 30 Minutes

11:30 – 12:30 Inside for Video Review and lunch

Afternoon Skate Session 1:00PM

Group 1- Agility Drills and DP – 1-2 Coaches Lower Field
Group 2 – V1 and V2 1 to 2 Coaches – Teaching Hill, one coach with IPAD to video
Group 3 – Cornering and Downhills and Transitions – 1-2 Coaches on Dennis’ and Moss

Rotate as we did in the morning with Video Review at 2:30. Finish by 3:00 plus or minus a bit.

BKL Winter Registration is open now!

Step 1: Select your program

Our BKL programs are structured to encourage fun on skis and to foster a life time enjoyment of the sport. We provide program options for wide range of ages, abilities and goals. To learn more about individual program goals, schedules and equipment needs please see our Winter Program page. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to contact our BKL Head Coach Rosemary Shea Cobb.

Step 2: Renew your membership

Memberships renewals are due 10/1 and once you renew your membership you should receive your MNC Member ID immediately by email. If for some reasons you don’t or you forgot you ID, please email info@mansfieldnordic.org.

Step 3: Register for your Winter Program

Use one form for each family, multi-child discounts available for families having more than one child enrolled in 2- & 3- day programs.

Step 4: Race Suit Rental (optional)

If your child is interested in racing and would like to fly the MNC colors, we have a limited selection of suits available for rent. To guarantee your suit availability, place your order prior to 10/30.

Step 5: Ski Rentals (optional)

For our youngest athletes we do offer No-wax classic skis, boots, and poles for rent. For older athletes and programs that will use wax-able skis, we recommend checking out our Gear Swap or Ski Rack for affordable sale and rental options.

Step 6: Do a snow dance!

Also, watch your email for weekly updates in our eBlast. As we get closer to the season our coaches will be setting up information sessions and soliciting volunteers. Our program has close 100 BKL skiers and we can’t pull this off without the help of our parent volunteers.

Masters Throw Down Oct. 26

Last season it was a Massacre this season it is a Throw Down. But whatever you call it, this is the second annual event with the our across the lake Peru Nordic metal head rivals!

So mark you calendar. All Masters are welcome to come join us on one of our favorite TT loops near Georgia Shore Park.
