New Year’s Day Ski!

Rosemary, Julia, Virginia, Carly, Kate and Jen

A small but exuberant group of MNC BKL skiers joined Coach Rosemary and Coach Jen for a New Year’s Day ski at Craftsbury.  The skiing was surprisingly decent, despite the recent rain, and Craftsbury still has great snow coverage, even on their natural snow terrain. Skiers from all over the US were trickling in at Craftsbury today to preview the courses for US Senior Nationals, which start on Thursday.  Most of us will be back at school or work this week, but if you have some time and want to catch some great skiing and get in a little exercise as well- head to Craftsbury for the skiing and the spectating! Schedule

BKL Practice 12/31/18- 1/5/19

Tuesday 1/1/19: New Year’s Day Family Ski!

Usher in 2019 with a ski at the Craftsbury Outdoor Center! Meet at 11 AM outside the Touring Center. Your choice of technique, but I would recommend skate skis or no-wax skis based on the forecast.  Despite the recent melt-downs, Craftsbury still has good skiing, mostly on their man made snow. We will ski in the rain or snow. Everyone must purchase a trail pass or have a season membership. Day trail passes are $5 for kids and $10 for adults.

Thursday 1/03/19: Metro Rocks Day!

Sadly, there is no skiing at the Range this week.

Instead of our normal practice, we will go to Metro Rocks, located behind Loews on the Susie Wilson Road in Essex, VT and work on our strength!  Price for climbing, shoes, & harness will be $18-$24 (we get $1 off equipment rental and $1 off climbing fee).  If your child has not climbed there before, you will need to sign a waiver (you can do it there). Kids who haven’t climbed before will get an intro by the staff. This is always a really fun practice for the kids!

Racers (& MS Racers): Sunday 1/06

Tentative Distance Ski at Trapps, 10:30 am

Check back to confirm location and technique. Tentative plan is to meet at the Trapp Family Lodge Touring Center in Stowe, VT for a long classic ski to the cabin. Meet at 10:30 in the basement of the Nordic Center to wax. Everyone must purchase a trail pass, but if you hold a season pass/membership at another touring center you may be able to get a free reciprocal trail pass for the day (ask them). Email Rosemary if you are going!
