BKL Sleepy Hollow Race Recap

Sleepy Hollow BKL Race 1/27

It was a cocktail of klister for the classic race at Sleepy Hollow on Friday evening! With good kick, fast skis and some awesome double poling, MNC skiers had great finishes- in fact all our skiers placed either first or second in their age classes! The 1.2 km loop was fast and featured some big snowmaking “bumps” in the lap lane.

Kate Carlson wore her “Jessie Diggins socks” and was so pumped for the race, she flew out of the starting gate in the 1/2 race. Brady Morigeau quickly put a lot of distance between himself and the other racers and had a lot of fun skiing the bumps on the lap in the 3/4 race. Niko Cuneo (skiing up), Taylor Carlson, Virginia Cobb and Carly Trapenni were up next in the 5/6 race. I was really glad to see that the double pole work we did in practice this week paid off because they all looked great and hotly pursued each other, double poling in all the right places. Niko was so fast, he even caught the high school fore-runner! Next skiing for MNC was Esther Cuneo who decided to give herself a challenge by “skiing up”. Despite getting blocked in at the start, Esther’s strength soon put her at the fore front, chasing down a couple of fast 7/8 boys.

Thanks to Sleepy Hollow for hosting such a fun race under the lights. We all had a great time! Thanks also to Coach Jen for helping me get everyone waxed up quickly. Look for results on the MNC Results page.
