MNC Gravel Grinder ’22
We had the perfect weather and and amazing first-year turnout for the MNC Gravel Grinder in Westford on Sunday! The sun was shining and the dirt was as smooth as you could expect for our corner of Vermont. With nearly 50 riders splitting up into 20- or 40-mile distances (and forming groups to push hard, enjoy conversation, or view the idyllic scenery) it was truly a celebration of riding among our club, and some new faces as well.
A big thanks to Joy Grossman and the “Gravel Event Committee” who helped put this event together. You can view a photo album below, which will grow as more images get uploaded!

Masters Rollerski Racing
Rollerski race update! There are two options for Masters interested in rollerski racing, both skate, coming up soon.
The infamous Southridge Timetrial is slated for Saturday, September 17th. This race features a 9AM arrival and a 9:45 start time (to give folks time to preview the course). This is a great option for minimal scary downhills, and the 6km course involves lots of gradual climbs and flat terrain.
Southridge TT parking information: 118 Southridge Road, Williston VT 05495…please park carefully in the small grass lot across from the address listed, OR (even better) park at Allen Brook School or Williston Central School and ski over the the start!
For those with rollerski loop experience (or those looking to gain some) the NENSA FreeFall rollerski race is being held at the Range the following day, on Sunday, September 18th. There is a 6km Masters option for this race, featuring three laps of Sprint and Pit Loops. Some fast and twisting downhills for sure, but less intimidating than the 5km and 15km options that day.
If you are interested in volunteering for the FreeFall race, check out this volunteer info form!

Fall Camp 2022: Registration Open
Last year we held our first-ever Fall Camp. This is common among many college teams and helps split the long gap between the start of the school year/fall training and the anticipation of Thanksgiving Camp. It’s a great way to get in some volume training and be energized by a different location and atmosphere to really focus-in on training.
In 2021 we visited North Conway, in part because we had been away for a few years with Mountain Camp being in VT. You can read a recap of that trip here.
This year, we are heading to Lake Placid! We’ll be visiting the area for the rollerski races in late September, but in October it’ll again be a great base for some volume with rollerski loops, hiking, and great trails every direction.
You can find the registration for this camp here. Camp takes place October 14-16 (Friday thru Sunday).
Junior Fall training is HERE
The seasons are changing, and Fall Training begins in earnest with the return to school and the countdown to winter! Our fall is very busy, with lots of fun trips like Keys/Climb to the Castle and Fall Camp in Lake Placid, as well as our own rollerski race, the FreeFall, on September 18th.
Whether you are an XC runner or other fall sport athlete looking to keep your skiing sharp, or interested in training full-time with MNC Academy, there is an option to fit your interest, ability, and availability.
Find all of our registrations for these opportunities below on the MNC Registration page below.
Note that this is the final program to utilize your ’21/’22 Membership number: for winter we will re-open singups for new Membership numbers for our Juniors, along with incoming BKL and Masters skiers for the upcoming winter.
There’s plenty more to get ready for and involved in, too…
- MNC Gravel Grinder event on Sunday, September 11th
- MNC Annual Fund (ongoing)
- Stonegrinding for your skis…fall is the time!
