Tuesday 11/26 – Both BK and Masters training will be on foot.  Please bring running shoes and out door clothing but also be prepared for some indoor activities too.  Be sure to bring drinking water and your favorite snow dance!

Thursday  11/28 – Happy Thanksgiving – no ski practice

Saturday 11/30 – 10 AM Family Ski day at Craftsbury.  They already have a loop open and new snow could expand the trails available to skiing.  Both BK and Masters are invited to come out and get on some early season snow.  Trail passes are available in the Touring Center.

BK Fall Friday Wrap-Up

Last Friday the BK group had it’s last  gathering of the season at Mills Riverside Park.  Although there was no snow it felt more like winter and we finished in the dark.  We hope everyone enjoyed the dry-land activities and is looking forward to ski season as much as the coaches.  We will be starting our WINTER PROGRAM next Tuesday 11/26 3:30 to 5:00 at the biathlon range.  Please be prepared for both indoor and outdoor activities…put away the shorts and cotton T-shirts and make sure you have a hat, glovers and layers you can take off as needed.  The water at the Walker Building is NOT POTABLE so bring water. All skiers need to have their MNC membership forms filled out online before participating in activities at the range.

Here are some more pics from the last few weeks.IMG_1423

Support US Skiing!

I am writing to ask for your help in supporting the National Nordic Foundation.  Long under-funded, US nordic skiers are now being supported by a grassroots organization helping support athlete development at all levels.
Consider donating under the links below for Bill and Henry Harmeyer and there is a chance your donation could be more than quadrupled!!! Junior skiers across the country are trying to raise $15,000.  If they are able to raise the $15,000 an anonymous donor will give a matching $50,000!  This kind of support will go a long way and we only have a few weeks left.
Please take a minute to check out their donation pages and watch the movie they produced supporting the NNF on Bill’s page.
Nordic skiing has never been stronger in the US and organizations like the NNF are helping produce fantastic roll models for American youth and a healthy lifestyle.
Check it out:
And thank you very much!  Any amount counts toward the goal.  If you can make a donation via your business or pass it on to those you know.

Junior Photos and Bolton Time Trial Results

This past week of training was a tough one! We kicked things off on Tuesday at the UVM Research Forest in Jericho for a sustained bounding workout. The sun was shining but there was a chill in the air and lots of leaves on the ground. Bounding is a great workout because it is so similar to skiing; it uses more muscles than just running. Thursday we did some specific strength on a dreary afternoon at Mud Pond. And this morning we hosted another Central Vermont Coop Series event at Bolton. In spite of several inches of snow, approx 25 athletes ran up the mountain! Hopefully more photos coming from that – my phone died. The conditions probably slowed the course down by 1-3 minutes, so we can’t really compare today’s times to times from September. It was a great morning with lots of excitement for winter and a wide variety of athletes and age groups — from age 11 to 50+.
