BK and Masters this week 2/22-2/28

Since many of our families are off traveling for the week of school break we have decided that there will be no BK ski practices this week but there will be 6PM Masters skiing at the range as usual. 3:30 Masters skiers are welcome to ski with the 6 PM group. We encourage all BK skiers to get out and ski with family and friends this week. Maybe try some back-country or head to the slopes for some alpine or tele-skiing.  Recharge your batteries and come back next week with lots of energy as we get ready of the 2015 BK Festival. The theme this year is “The Spirit of Winter.” Get creative and have some thing to wear at the BK Festival parade of athletes! • This weekend there is a BK race in Hanover at the Silver Foxtrot. Your are welcome to go but we do not have coaches available for this one.  It will be quite cold so use the coldest glide wax you have available. Some options TOKO Blue, SWIX CH4 or LF4 or even some CH3, Start Green is always reliable in the cold as well. These are a little tougher to apply than softer waxes and require hotter iron temps so be careful.

BK and Masters Update 2/4/15

We will be skate skiing on Thursday.  We will need to share the Walker Building with an army unit training there this week so please keep things consolidated to our end of the room.

And for the weekend….

  • The 3rd Eastern Cup race of the season is scheduled at Craftsbury for Feb 7-8 and there is a BK race about noon on Saturday February 7.  Here is the link describing the race details.  https://www.nensa.net/calendar/index.php?id=1701
  • Coach Rick will be there on Saturday but is volunteering for biathlon on Sunday.  So if your kids plan on racing on Sunday please be prepared to help them kick wax.
  • We would like to provide a big potluck for the team at Craftsbury.  If your child plans to race, please click on the link below and help contribute to this potluck.  Please see: www.SignUpGenius.com/go/20F0E48ABA928A3F85-craftsbury1 .  Also Email Coach Rick so we know who will be racing.
  • The link is being shared with the Junior Team parents as well because the Juniors will be racing Saturday and Sunday mornings. Thus, we’ll have a large portion of the club together on Saturday!  It is a great opportunity for some of the BK kids to see some top competitors skiing.  Thanks for your contribution.
  • MASTERS – an informal ski group will start skiing at 10 AM on skate skis in Craftsbury.  The place will be busy with the eastern cup but all the trails are in excellent shape so it will be easy to find trails not being used for the races. Please email Rick if you will be there. rtcostanza@gmail.com

ANOTHER OPTION FOR BK

Frost Mountain Nordic Club is hosting a BK race on Saturday too.  https://www.nensa.net/calendar/index.php?id=1698 MNC Coaches will not be at this one but the FMN races are always a lot of fun and well run.

BIATHLON VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY

  • The Ethan Allen Biathlon Club is hosting NORAM Biathlon Races at the range February 7th, and 8th.  If you would like to help out please contact John Madigan at jpmad2013@yahoo.com.
