NENSA Club Cup & Zak Cup Racing. At designated races throughout the season, Masters skiers can earn points for their club or individually in these season long competitions.  Winning clubs and skiers are recognized by NENSA, so when registering please designate Mansfield Nordic Club to support our club.

Club Cup points are given to all NENSA members competing in a sanctioned Club Cup event with 10pts for first, 9 for second, and so on. However, after 10th place every skier for a club still gains 1 point, so the more competitors a club has in a race, the more points they will get!

Zak Cup points are determined by the top 15 finishers within each age group in a sanctioned Zak Cup events (see listing here). Racers also need to have completed a minimum number of races within each season for these points to count: participation is rewarded!   NENSA Membership at the time of the race is required for Zak Cup Scoring.

Masters MiniCamp Success!

Thanks to everyone who joined us on Saturday for our first Masters Mini Camp! It was a great day with lots of skiing in all techniques, video analysis, warm weather, and snow galore.

DCIM101GOPRO

Coach Liam and Coach Rick got to work with a lot of skiers and, most importantly, a TON of Mansfield Nordic Masters got to spend a day on snow together!

We’re looking forward to more events like this as the season continues. The snow has us off to a great start and we can’t wait to keep the momentum going. If you’ve never taken on the challenge of a Nordic race, or if you want to get out more and ski with our group, now is the time!

BONUS: Masters Training Starts this week!

With snow on the ground we are kicking things off early this season with training at the range starting Nov 27th and a Mini-Camp at Craftsbury on Dec. 1.  If you have already signed up you will receive an email with your preliminary Winter training groups and you can find all the key information you need for the upcoming season at the following links:

Tell us your story…

Our MNC Board is looking for your help to develop and expand our sponsorship base.   Toward that end, our goal is to create a 2-3 minute video that captures what is special about our club.

To that end,  we are asking our members to share their experiences and stories.  What does MNC and Nordic skiing mean to you?

So please give us your thoughts, your photos, your videos at the email below. Also, if you have video skills and want to help create this clip, please let us know.

Skirack MNC Grinding Order

Calling all skiers looking for a stonegrind! If you are looking to refresh your ski bases, our friends at Skirack have offered the club a team price for a batch order of $55 per pair. Here’s how to get involved:

  1. Clean and scrape the skis you would like ground. Put skis together with tape or rubber bands, not ski ties!
  2. Clearly mark your name, and desired grind, on masking or painters tape on the skis
  3. Drop off your skis downstairs at Skirack any time before 10:00AM on Wednesday, Nov 14 and let the staff know you are part of the Mansfield Nordic Batch for Nov14
  4. Skirack will ideally have the skis turned around by Monday, Nov 19th. Skiers pay for service at time of pickup.
  5. This is the deadline for grinding batch 1, but with 10 or more pairs these batches can continue being assembled!

Find more information on Skirack’s nordic grinds HERE. After a season of testing and racing on Skirack grinds (both personal skis and the MNC wax test skis), Adam recommends the 6.7 for skiers with 1 pair of skate or classic race skis. This is a very adaptable grind for mid-range conditions that can be modified for warmer temps with hand structure!

Informational packets and grind menus can also be found at the MNC Annual Meeting.
