Race to the Cabin / Stowe Enduro notes

The Stowe Nordic Enduro and the Race to the Cabin are ON* for this weekend!

*Race to the Cabin might feature a slightly modified course if utilizing the full course is unavailable

Below are some Toko wax recommendations from Dave Boucher. Adam also recommends being prepared for the possibility of a klister binder or cold klister option for Saturday’s race, depending on snowfall in the next few days.

Look for the MNC tent at Trapps on Saturday morning for waxing advice and other club skiers!

Masters opportunities this week!

MNC Masters,

With the conclusion of World Junior Biathlon trials at Jericho, all things should be back to business as usual at the Range. That means that as of press time (7:15pm on Sunday) we will be holding training during our typical 3:45 and 6:00 time slots this Tuesday and Thursday.

Be sure to keep up to date with everything via these following helpful channels:

This Saturday offers a great opportunity for some fun racing at Trapps! The Race to the Cabin, an annual favorite, is set to take place with registration at 8am and the race at 9am. Whether you decide to race hard for the glory, or simply put on a bib for a ski up the hill, the $5 registration fee is a great way to score a trail pass for even more skiing after the event! MNC will be present with Coach Adam offering waxing help at the new team tent: find registration details HERE.

Masters MSA Update

Update on the Masters portion of our Mont Saint Anne trip

Due to low participation numbers, Masters skiing at MSA will remain ‘unstructured’ but please feel free to contact Coach Adam for a training plan, or check-in with him regarding training options and collaborative workouts

Our plan is to continue regularly-scheduled Masters sessions at the Range next week, although this is still slightly dependent on Nat’l Guard and Biathlon approval due to World Junior Team Trials.

Be sure to stay up-to-date on the Masters Google Doc!

Masters on snow!

It may have involved some icy trips under the snow guns, but this week the MNC Masters groups got on snow and many had their first skate ski sessions of the year. A particularly memorable evening was Thursday which featured frigid temps mixed with blazing snow guns. After a tough interval workout Mike, Steve, Kort, Liam and I ventured out to a different loop which was getting snow made on it…needless to say, the snow guns hit us pretty hard:

Snowy and icy: how tough skiers are made!

Snowy and icy: how tough skiers are made!

We were also able to take advantage of our new Saturday Range access to get some daylight skiing in on Saturday! While we cannot always guarantee access to the Walker Building on these days, the trails will be open to MNC Members who have signed up for either coached training or general Range access.  In order to ensure we comply with Range regulations , we will be asking for people to sign-in for these sessions.  So look for the sign-up sheet / clip board at the top of the 1k loop.

Be sure to stay on top of this week’s skiing on the MNC Masters Doc – looking forward to some more snow time before the holidays!
