NENSA Club Cup & Zak Cup Racing. At designated races throughout the season, Masters skiers can earn points for their club or individually in these season long competitions.  Winning clubs and skiers are recognized by NENSA, so when registering please designate Mansfield Nordic Club to support our club.

Club Cup points are given to all NENSA members competing in a sanctioned Club Cup event with 10pts for first, 9 for second, and so on. However, after 10th place every skier for a club still gains 1 point, so the more competitors a club has in a race, the more points they will get!

Zak Cup points are determined by the top 15 finishers within each age group in a sanctioned Zak Cup events (see listing here). Racers also need to have completed a minimum number of races within each season for these points to count: participation is rewarded!   NENSA Membership at the time of the race is required for Zak Cup Scoring.

BKL Time Trial!

Racers Virginia, Anna, Carly, Julia, Niko, Taylor, Carl, Gretta and Kate met at Craftsbury for practice and an informal Time Trial on Saturday. This is a great thing to do before the actual races begin.  We practiced warming up for a race and then chose technique goals to work on while racing. We all learned a few things and it was good to get the “kinks out” and get used to what it feels like to go really fast on a course. Great job to all these BKL Racers!

NE BKL Festival: Lots of Fun for Kids!

The New England Bill Koch League Festival is the highlight of the winter for many of our BKL program kids.  This year’s Festival will be held at Rikert Nordic Center in Ripton, VT on March 2-3. Registration is now open!  Festival lodging gets booked quickly, so if you are considering going, you should book your lodging now. You can find info on lodging and other things on the Festival Website. NENSA will be adding more information to the Festival Website as we get closer to the date.

So, “Take a Glide on the Wild Side” and get ready for two fun-filled days of races, activities on skis and hanging with your ski buddies on the beautiful trails at Rikert Touring Center.  If you have any questions about the Festival that aren’t answered on the Festival Website or registration page, please email Coach Rosemary.

Ben’s Speech

At this year’s MNC Annual Meeting, professional skier Ben Lustgarten gave an amazing talk ranging from his competitive skiing experience, to the struggles surrounding the 2018 Olympic trials, to what it means to endure and embrace the pain of racing your hardest. It was an awesome speech that had the crowd on the edge of their seats during, and then standing up OUT of their seats at the conclusion. Ben was kind enough to pass along a transcript of his presentation for those that weren’t able to make it. It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED reading!

To that end,  we are asking our members to share their experiences and stories.  What does MNC and Nordic skiing mean to you?

So please give us your thoughts, your photos, your videos at the email below. Also, if you have video skills and want to help create this clip, please let us know.
