Looking for snow over the holidays?

It still looks like more dry land training is on the horizon in the valley, but there is skiing to be had nearby on manmade loops (Craftsbury and Rikert).  Also for those willing to venture toward Mt St Anne, the trails are beginning to open.

For those weather geeks who want to know when this dearth of winter will end, check out the Single Chair Weather Blog.  The short answer is not too soon, but the signs are at least starting to look favorable.

Eastern Cup Update: SKATE SPRINT

The classic sprint schedule for the EC Opener has been changed to freestyle. All notes about warmup, arrival and preparation (as discussed in Adam’s Virtual Team Meeting ) remain the same, aside from the fact that this now allows athletes more time to focus on warmup without the hassle of finalizing kick wax.

May the snow be with us.

Eastern Cup USSA Membership

MNC athletes and parents may have noticed the new rules mandating a USSA licence for racing in NENSA Eastern Cup Races. The official write-up can be seen here:

USSA Membership for Eastern Cups

ECUSSA

For most MNC Juniors, the most reasonable option is the $15 “General” membership. This is all that is needed to race Eastern Cups all season. If an athlete qualifies for Junior Nationals, that $15 can count toward a $95 “Competitor” licence which is mandatory for that championship event.

When signing up, select the “Cross-Country General” option, not the U-16 Competitor option (even if the athlete in question is in the U-16 age group). This will ensure you are only charged $15. In the drop-down club menu, select “unaffiliated” for now (not Mount Mansfield Ski Club…that’s not us!).

Happy racing!

MNC BKL Remind App!

Parents and athletes,

For up-to-the-minute changes and notifications, MNC will be starting to implement a tool called “Remind” this season.

This service allows teachers (or in this case coaches!) to send group messages to a class (or in this case a team!). Within our club framework, the “Remind” service will often be used for last-minute changes or updates to practice…think icy roads or changes in technique due to grooming difficulties.

Signing up is simple: you can visit THIS PAGE to see how to sign up for MNC “Remind” notifications.

If you have already signed up for one of our BKL programs, you should have just received an email detailing how to sign up directly.

We hope this allows smoother, more direct and more hassle-free communication about practices!
