Welcome youth skiers! We are inviting kids to join us for races and fun on the trails at Sleepy Hollow. We’ll be having a race for each age group and some fun obstacle course elements to play on:). See information for registration, race information and volunteer sign up below.
Registration: Please register all children coming to the event. We have online registration (link below) open until Saturday January 8th at 1:00 pm. Registration will also be open on Sunday, January 9th from 9:00 am – 10:30 am. Cost is $6 per skier (for racers and non-racers) and payment for all registrations will be in person on January 9th- cash or check will be accepted. For day of race registration, you must register at least an hour in advance of the race start time.
Volunteers Needed: We need volunteers to help with various jobs for the races and registration. Please sign up if you can help below. Many thanks!
Race Technique & Course: The race technique will be CLASSIC. The courses will be set closer to the race date, when we have a better idea of snow coverage and conditions. Courses will be clearly marked for skiers, and we’ll put down v-boards to change courses for each successive age group race. Start and finish will be in Molly’s Meadow.
Lollipop (Kindergarten/pre-K) : ~ 0.5 km
Grades 1/2: ~ 1 km
Grades 3/4: ~ 2km
Grades 5/6: ~ 3 km
Grades 7/8: ~ 4 km
Start: The races will start at 10:00 am with the Lollipop age category. Race start times are listed below. Start format will be a wave start for each race, and with the exception of the lollipop, boys will race first followed by girls in each age group.
10:00 am- Lollipop
10:15 am- Grades 1/2
10:45 am- Grades 3/4
11:15 am- Grades 5/6
11:45 am- Grades 7/8
Awards will be happening shortly after the end of the Grades 7/8 race. All participants will be receiving a ribbon or a lollipop:).
COVID Precautions: The ski lodge will not be open, with the exception of getting water, rentals or a quick warm up. We are generally asking folks to use the portalets in the parking lot and stay outside as much as possible. Many thanks for your support with this!
