Juniors in the Valley

The transition back to school is still not fully normal yet…whether it’s a little bit of “zombie” status at training, or a general sense of chaos getting to and from sessions, it’s always a tough switch to get on a totally new routine after summer. We had a bit of a mini break that first week of school, and a medium week this past week. We are slowly building into more training this coming week. Important to take things gradually with a big shift, but that doesn’t mean a lack of hard work.

This past week we skated hard on Tuesday, stepped up our double pole towing game (towing 2 partners!) on Thursday, went bounding higher up the Honey Hollow road than ever before on Saturday, and a few of us even got to experience the amazing sights of rising fog in Pleasant Valley on Sunday.

Oh, and we’ve been putting up the iron in the gym too, working on strength at Dee PT on both Wednesday and Saturday evening/afternoon. When you add all that up, it does seem like more than a “medium” week…but that’s what it was, so you definitely start to get some perspective on how hard everyone is working to be fast this winter.

Here are some photos from our adventures…it’s going to be another big week ahead with Climb to the Castle on Sunday. It looks like we might get a chance to use the newest addition to the MNC Racing Arsenal…read through to the bottom to see just what that is…!

Timmy and Dakota pushing each other in some bounding intervals. 7 min L3, then 1 min of L4 at the end. Repeat 5 times…tough!

The little swimming hole off the edge of the road was a nice reward though, as St Mikes skier Ethan demonstrates

The scenery was pretty breathtaking in Pleasant Valley on Sunday…luckily Liam stopped by to capture it! Hazy fog lifted to gradually reveal Mt Mansfield as the ski went on.

Did I mention that Pleasant Valley is really beautiful?

Keep your eyes peeled for the new MNC Trailer on the roads around town. This baby can fit all the skis, tools, wax, and supplies needed for a race trip, and in a pinch it can even be a mobile wax unit. And it doesn’t even have it’s MNC logo and paint scheme yet!

Watch out Norwary, the Pugs are the newest trailer team on the circuit!
