Perfect conditions for Jumping!

The Range is home to an old alpine slope that is unused nowadays. Dan Westover of the National Guard was kind enough to groom across the road and and nice GS-style run down the slope for us to use yesterday. Some of us built jumps in the non-groomed areas since the powder landing was deep and soft. THe BKL’ers, Juniors and many parents got to watch as the athletes took flight. Pretty cool.

The fun continues tomorrow (Thurs) when we join the BKL, Juniors and UVM ski team for some fun relays and perhaps some more jumping!

Practice update -1/7/14 12:55 PM

12:55 PM Dan is tilling and doing his best to loosen up the ice but there is skiing.  Overall conditions will be fast and icy so please use caution at all times especially on any down hills. Novices may have difficulty today please use your own judgement on your level of participation.

Recommendation – use old/rock skis.  For BK we still want kids to bring running shoes for some inside activities. Same goes for Masters – we will incorporate some core/balance/ski erg workouts into todays practice.

10:15 AM We are waiting for a groomers report to see if we can ski today and will post an update here as soon as possible.  At this point we suggest being prepared for both indoor and outdoor activities with or without skis.  Dress in layers, bring skate skis and running shoes along with a positive attitude and we will make the best of the situation.

MNC Begins BK Fall Friday Ski Practices

On a blustery fall day MNC kicked off the first BK Fall Friday dryland ski practice of the season at Mills Riverside Park in Underhill. We are very happy to welcome some new faces to the club and look forward to a great winter skiing together.  Today kids, coaches and some parents  participated in activities that were not only fun but also develop fast feet, balance and coordination to help us become better skiers.  See you Next Friday!!

MNC BK at Craftsbury 2/27/13

About a dozen MNC BK kids and parents joined up with the Craftsbury BK group for a trip to Charley’s Cabin on a snowy day.  While it was raining in Burlington, Craftsbury had a beautiful winter snow storm all day with several inches of powder on the un-groomed surfaces. The close ties between our clubs provides an excellent opportunity for kids from different parts of Vermont to ski together and make new friends.  Thanks Crafstbury!
