Junior Training 9/29 – 10/12

While I still use this weblog to update our training plan, the MNC google doc is the absolute best location for current information. If plans change mid-week, the google-doc will reflect those changes. Please bookmark the above link to the google doc and visit it regularly!

This Week:

Tuesday = L3 skate rollerski intervals at the Range, 4:00-6:00pm. Also opportunity to try on Podiumwear race suits for sizing purposes.
Wednesday = Low intensity skate ski at Williston Central School, 4:00-5:45pm.
Thursday = Classic ski + speeds at the Range, 4:00-6:00pm.
Saturday = Easy distance workout, location/mode TBA. Start at 10:00am.
Sunday = L3 double-pole repeats at Mud Pond, 10:00-11:45am.

Next Week:

Tuesday = Distance skate ski @ Range plus strength. 4:00-6:00pm.
Wednesday =
Continuous running/bounding at UVM Research Forest, 4:00-5:45pm.
Thursday =
Skate ski with speeds @ Range, 4:00-6:00pm.
Saturday =
Distance classic ski @ TBA. 10:00am.
Sunday = 
Tentative: rollerski time trial (possible GMVS).

Junior Training 9/9 – 9/21

This Week:

Tuesday = Catamount 5km or 10km running race. Confirm race start time on the Catamount website. Please wear your MNC shirt!
Wednesday = Distance double-pole at Charlotte Beach, 4:15-6:15pm. Celebrity guest coach Garrott Kuzzy (2010 Olympian)!!
Thursday = Skate ski at the Range, 4:00-6:00pm. Distance ski with approx 15×30″ speeds interspersed.
Saturday = Bolton hillclimb time-trial, 10:00am – 11:30am.
Sunday = Distance classic ski @ John Camp (Milton), 10:00am – 1:00pm. Everyone will ski approx 35-45km.

Next Week:

Tuesday = Classic @ Mud Pond, 4:00-6:00pm. L3 double-pole intervals (4x) up the Meadowridge hill, approx 20km total skiing.
Wednesday =
Distance skate ski @ location TBA. 4:00-6:00pm.
Thursday =
Skate @ Range, 4:00-6:00pm. Skate with speeds and strength.
Saturday =
Classic @ Mud Pond, 10:00-noon. L3 double-pole intervals (5x) up the Meadowridge hill, approx 25km total skiing.
Sunday =
Distance classic ski @ TBA, 10:00am-noon. Shorter/easier day (~20km total skiing).

Junior Training 9/1 – 9/14

This Week:

Tuesday = Classic roll at the Range, 4:00-6:00pm. We will do our new double-pole test (longer than the old Greystone test). After that we will do some L3 double-pole intervals. Celebrity guest coach Jennie Bender (2x national champion!!)
Wednesday = Distance double-pole at Mud Pond, 4:00-5:45pm. Wear bright clothes.
Thursday = Skate roll at the Range, 4:00-6:00pm. Distance ski with approx 12×30″ speeds interspersed.
Friday (optional/on your own) = Fast n Female event (gals) and Speed Camp (boys) in Lake Placid, NY.
Saturday = Track intervals @ TBA, 10:00-11:30am. Approx 5x2000m intervals at L3 intensity.
Sunday = Distance classic ski at TBA, 10:00am – noon.

Next Week:

Bonus training this week!

Tuesday = 4:00-5:30pm at Essex HS. L3 track running intervals, running drills and agility. 5x 1600m with 200m jog recovery.
Wednesday = 4:00-6:00pm at Mud Pond. Distance double-pole.
Thursday = 4:00-6:00pm at Round Church. Skate ski with 10×30″ speeds.

Weekend is on your own:

Saturday = L3 track running intervals (4x 2000m) with 200m jog recovery.

THIS WEEK: (final official week of summer training)

Tuesday 8/19: Skate ski @ The Range, 8:30 – 10:30am. Distance ski with speeds and strength. Goal is 25km. Strength to include Vasa.
Wednesday 8/20:
Distance double-pole at Mud Pond, 9:00-11:00am. Goal is 25km
Thursday 8/21:
Classic ski with speeds @ The Range, 8:30 – 10:30am. Strength to include Vasa.
Friday 8/22:
Ski walking at Bolton, 9:00-12:00 noon. 2-4 ascents (athletes racing on Sunday will perform 2 ascents at lower-intensity).
Saturday 8/23:
L3 running intervals at local high school (only for people NOT racing tomorrow!)
Sunday 8/24 (optional / on your own):
Race to the Top of Vermont at Stowe.

NEXT WEEK (*bonus training* open to all!)

Tuesday 8/26: L3 track intervals (5x 1600m). Time/location TBA.
Wednesday 8/27: Distance double-pole at Mud Pond (25km). 4:00-6:00pm.
Thursday 8/28: Skate ski at the Range (25km with 10×30″ speeds). 4:00-6:00pm.
Saturday 8/30 (on your own holiday weekend): L3 running intervals on track (4x 2000m repeats). Email or TXT your times to Tim.
