Masters End of Season Wax Party

Please join the MNC Masters for an end of the season summer wax prep party on Saturday April 29, 2017.  Hosted by Jen and Bill Supple at  103 Westall Drive, Richmond.  Please RSVP at jssupple@gmail.com to help get a sense of who will be attending. Thanks!

There will be irons, benches, and electricity available but please feel free to bring your own bench and iron, scrapers, brushes and other tools you like to use, if you have them and can share. Please supply your own summer wax (yellow non-fluoro) or other of your choosing.

We will also be brainstorming summer activities and events for masters continued training and exercise. The coaches want to know what we are interested in pursuing! Let’s take advantage of their enthusiasm to keep us in shape over the summer!

There will be snacks and drinks for the afternoon session followed by light dinner at Stone Corral when everyone is ready at, or before, 6 pm!

Hope you can make it!  We will assume great spring, sunny, driveway-gathering weather, but will take it into the garage if need be…

HURTLogo

Join us for the 2017 HURT-athon! The Gore Mountain Ski Bowl Park is featuring a new and improved FIS homologated race course with snow making and lights and HURT nordic is proud to showcase their amazing facilities. We will be offering age group awards  for all race categories and this is a NYSSRA series points race. Plan on coming out to score some points for your home club.  The start for the juniors race, masters women race and masters men race will be an interval start and we will do our best to seed the start list based on previous NYSSRA series race performances so that you will be near your immediate competition.  The U16/18 race will begin at 9:00 am. Following a 10 minute gap, the Open/Masters Men field will begin, followed by another short gap, then the Masters Open/Women.

Day-of registration will be $30.00 and you will not be seeded in the field.  You will be placed at the back of your respective category.

If you are not a NYSSRA member, you will be expected to pay a one-day $5.00 NYSSRA racing license fee when you pick up your bib.  This fee can be included in your registration check or you can pay for it separately if you submit your payment online.

Masters 1k uphill run

It was a dark and chilly night at the Range on Thursday, but calm skies and bright trailside lights meant the conditions were fast for the first official MNC Masters 1k Uphill Run Test (which needs a shorter name!).

We decided to measure fitness and speed with a tough course from the bottom of Badger Loop up to the red Range Flag near the parking lot. Look for the Strava segment soon: we’re thinking this will be a good test to repeat on snow as well as pavement! The gauntlet has been thrown down and we look forward to adding more course times and seeing improvements as the seasons progress.

A second running of the course...together!

A second running of the course…together!

Everyone tackled the course a second time afterward, because it turned out to be a pretty fun way to dig deep…plus, skiers always love embracing the challenge of an uphill!

Masters Southridge 6K TT

This Sunday saw the fourth running of the Southridge Time Trail with the largest group of skiers yet.  Strong winds out of the South definitely challenged the skiers, but nonetheless strong performances and a fun time was had by all  competitors.  If you missed this round, don’t worry there will be a second running in November.

Overall, the course record still stands at 17:55 by Rick Schaaf with a full list of results on our google doc.

The course profile can be viewed on Strava.
