http://www.tokous.com/Waxtips/New%20England%20New%20York/FrostBKL.pdf

Damian Bolduc’s recommendations for the weekend:

Race to the Cabin, Trapp Family Lodge 1/11/14
Stowe Mini Marathon, Stowe Nordic Center 1/11/14
NYSEF Harry Eldridge Memorial Classic, Lake Placid 1/11/14
Frost Mountain BKL Race, Rikert Touring Center 1/12/14
NYSEF Harry Eldridge Skate, Lake Placid 1/12/14

One recommendation will suit all races this weekend
Glide: ToKo Yellow/Black Mixed
Kick: prepare kick zone with ToKo Spray on Green Klister

Directions:
Conditions will be old transformed snow.  The weather roller coaster as created a very solid base and course will be tilled snow.  This snow will be old, transformed and somewhat dirty. Transformed Snow is snow that has partially melted and re-frozen, been rained on or is granular.  In this context Dirty Snow means that it has a relatively high volume of particulate matter that occurs naturally in snow, as well as debris from other sources such as tree needles, dust, grooming/tilling or ski bases.  The snow will still look clean, but given the time and swings in weather since the last significant snowfall it is safe to assume that it has much more debris than new/clean snow.   The days leading to the races will be slightly warm with a strong warming trend on the weekend.  These conditions should be very fast as courses will be groomed and will set-up nicely.  One budget wax recommendation will suit all races this weekend.
Temperatures will be in the ToKo Yellow Zone for all events.  Due to the snow being Transformed/Old/Dirty mixing ToKo Grey will improve the ski over straight ToKo Yellow wax.  The ToKo Grey provides extra shearing ability that glides better over coarse snow as well keeps the ski base cleaner in “dirty” snow.
For Kick Wax determining the Klister to use is best saved for the day of the race.  It should be Klister conditions due to the snow type and temperature.  To prepare and save time race day you should clean the base and apply the Spray on ToKo Base Green Klister Binder.  This can be covered with hard wax or Klister.  It will make the wax of the day much more durable.
Application:
Glide: Apply Toko Yellow and iron into the ski base allow it to cool and set.  Drip ToKo Grey spacing drops every 2-3 inches on each side of the ski groove.  Iron in to mix.  Let the ski cool completely, scrape and brush.
Kick: ToKo Spray On Klister – With the ski vertical (because the aerosol does not work as well when tilted or upside down)  simply spray the ToKo Green Klister Binder on the Klister Pocket (slightly shorter area in the middle of the kick zone)Place the ski flat immediately so the Klister does not run down the ski.  The base need only look wet where sprayed.  Spray area at a rate of 1 second per foot.  It is ok to cover the groove.  See wax support at the race for the wax of the day.
